Whether they enroll to develop and
hone writing skills for high school
and college, to prepare for the new
writing potions of the SAT and ACT,
or to pursue personal creative
writing, students in this program
find that they can write more than
they did before, more easily, at a
higher level, and that they are more
enthused about reading.
This program shows you how to
improve your overall writing process
from start to finish, for papers,
tests, and stories. Students learn
the best strategies for beginning
and revising work. They learn and
practice a range of organizational
structures, which include fiction,
nonfiction, and the best ways to
integrate research into writing.
They learn how to refine usage and
grammar so that these skills become
natural and increase vocabulary.
They learn strategies for the tests
that measure writing. And because
this is an active workshop,
emphasizing permission and the
exchange of student ideas and
discoveries, they have fun doing it.
Finally, all Story Workshop College
Prep instructors teach or have
taught college students. This means
you can work at your own pace, write
what you want to write, and still
gain a clear picture of the demands
of college and advanced high school
writing.
When you walk out of a Story
Workshop College Prep program, you
have the strategies you need to
complete any writing assignment more
successfully as well as tackle more
challenging books, and you
understand how to keep improving on
your own. You feel better prepared
for the next level.
Class Size is limited to 12
students. Enrollment closes when the
seats are filled.
